Front of the Class: A Reaction Paper

By: Jhunard Christian Asayas

In some parts of our lives, it could be unfair and unjust or maybe, it could not only in some sections but probably the thing itself. You may sometimes feel separated away from the reality because you got something peculiar that opposite of the usual. The world may turn its back away from you yet, you should not stop on trying instead, keep prevailing as what Brad Cohen did on a real life based film- Front of the Class.
The chapter of the film started from a 6 year-old witty kid with a constant companion which is a n unknown neurological disorder that is eventually known to be a Tourette Syndrome. This syndrome is somewhat like to be a malfunction in his brain that send s unwanted signals to his body the creates abrasive noise or actions that is sometimes or usually annoying specially in crucial-quite events like a conference of people. This makes a great burden on his path as he grows older. Cohen, now an adult one, wanted to be a teacher. The reason behind this desire is he coveted to teach children the value of accepting things whether it is normal or not. However, his path does not give a good texture. Every time he got a call for an interview, he always does hiccup or his nasty neurological disorder strikes up, so every school he went rejected him for a grade school teaching job. He receive a lot of judgment involving his  syndrome at the point that he even got no hope from people getting a job- his father do so. That’s just an awful part of the story. But he did not give up. He searched for every school on the whole state of Georgia and submitted a copy of his quite good resume and waited for their call. Luckily he got some. Mountain View elementary school accepted him as a second grade teacher and agreed with a year contract. At first, it was difficult for him to explain his disorder but with his optimism and perseverance including his funny personality, he come up with it and made good friends with his pupils. His attitude continues and was awarded with the title,” first Teacher of the year,” among all the new educators of Georgia. And now, he have his long-time desired job- Teaching.
“I just wanted to be treated like somebody else,” – young Brad Cohen said in a conference. This line envelops a huge impact to the viewers because expanding it means that every people in this world needs to be treated like every normal body does. They may have a different appearance or unusual behavior, like a syndrome or a physical disability, they need to be loved and make normal deals in the society.  In an interview that Cohen attended one morning, a appalling circumstance betided. He got the chance to be a teacher that time but under one condition, he need to refrain of his hiccups and act like an ordinary teacher. “I just don’t see how could you teach a class,”—“[Those] kids will laugh at you,” that principal said with a deep sincerity. Hot air fills the gap between them and Cohen immediately took his papers and quit saying,”… you know sir, I don’t want to work on a boss [who] doesn’t care about his students.” Well’ definitely he made the perfect decision because letting some people mold our life in the way they wanted to would be a catastrophe of our total life. Turning into someone whom we really can’t, could just make the scenario even worst. So at cases like this, never ever let someone determine whom you will be and do not let them get over you. Make your own decisions and bring out the best out of you without others mandate, though its difficult, expect good things will arise.
Presently, the world has evolved into a very huge manner. From letters to one-pressed messages, from seas to plains, dancing candle lights to bright bulbs, this things really offers great deals to human society. Well human do so. Social acceptation had made tall boundaries to people that create limits to their minds. Having this kind of life would be mind and soul depressing specially when the people whom you thought of being always at your back to support you would turn their tails and bring you down.”…the only thing that hurts, the fact that he doesn’t accept who I am,” grown Cohen said during a conversation with his stepmom. This dialogue of Cohen states that even his only owned father can’t accept him having that kind of disorder and never anticipate him having a job. That just contributes more lift on his shoulder and proceeds harder thinking he got no support from his father. Why do most people go this way?  We wanted to proceed and hoping for a success but instead put their hands on our back to push us attain our desire, they put their heads down on us, pull as backwards and say “you can’t.” but the claim is even how hard you have been, remember to forgive and learn to accept hatred because this aspects will mold you to a better person.
In some cases and in some ways, we intent to give up. We wanted to stop on trying be someone others wanted to causing tears to roll down our eyes. No one’s out there to support us. No one’s beside us to say, “you can do it darlin’- Don’t let your fear win over you- Show the world that you deserve to be loved.” These words would obviously kick our ass to run and conquer the world. But what is there is none? The film Front of the Class is just a very incredibly perfect example of the reality. Brad Cohen made a lot of struggles finding his place because of his appalling syndrome but he always say to himself to keep on going forward until you find your placer because there will and there is a place for everyone where we could find love and acceptance- you just need to keep on going forward.

“Children look at life differently, than most adults. They see the world and say I will, not I can’t and so did I.”
                                                                                                                                     - Brad Cohen.
